My house is full of windows, so when I decided to try meditating in total darkness, my bedroom closet became the obvious choice.

I shut the door, stuffed pillows underneath it, and told my family not to interrupt.

I had no idea what I was getting into.

Time seemed to disappear. My hands began moving without me consciously directing them. I started having experiences I couldn’t explain—and, eventually, received a message I understood to be from Connor.
