Connecting to your Body & Emotions

After experiencing trauma, it's common to feel a disconnection from both our bodies and emotions. Understanding how trauma affects our physical and emotional well-being is essential. This disconnection can serve as a mechanism to manage intense emotions, leading to numbness, dissociation, and a diminished sense of physical awareness. Engaging in mindfulness practices provides a pathway to healing by reestablishing a connection with our bodies and cultivating a sense of inner safety. Through this guided visualization, I invite you to pause and reacquaint yourself with your body, acknowledging the sensations present, and reconnecting with your emotions. Healing begins when we validate our feelings and allow ourselves to express them openly.
Find a comfortable place, whether sitting or lying down, where you can be undisturbed. Optionally, play some meditative music, take a few deep breaths, and let's begin.
